Of the three major components of coexistence -
Education, Awareness, Waste Management. Of these three major components between black bears and humans,
education is the most important element in understanding
how each can survive harmoniously with each other. Once
the time has been taken to learn the truth of these gentle
creatures, attitudes change, fears diminish, and a whole new
perspective of black bears is realized. Get educated!
Our Mission
Membership shall be open to any and all residents of "bear country" over
18 years of age who have a firm belief that coexistence with black bears,
native to New Jersey, is possible. It shall be the goal of the Alliance to act as a
public service organization offering substantiated facts, research, and
education, in an attempt to dispel the myth of black bears being predatory or
dangerous creatures.
It shall be a priority of Alliance members to promote public knowledge of
state and federal regulations pertaining to the bears, such as the "No Feeding
Ban," trash management, property bear-proofing and aversive-conditioning
techniques through educational literature, leaflet handouts, seminars, and
"bear facts" presentations, with the ultimate goal of achieving a peaceful
and respectful coexistence. The main objective of the Alliance is to save bear
lives for our and future generations. Said programs are to be funded by
membership fees and public or corporate donations.
